My Character Picture

Hello All you viewers who wisely came here!

I felt the urgent need to make this page for the reason of my character pictures of Xull'rae Zauviir. or another here Xull'rae Stats. They are very nice and well done picture..yes? I think most everyone would agree that it is, so this is why this page is here.
All across the web, you will see and hear things like Bandwidth suits and false artwork claims, or just people taking art without permission or giving credit. Well to be honest I like many HATE that!! It is very rude and frustrating to see and find someone that has copied your work or idea, so on this page I will provide info on how I came to form Xull'rae and received my pictures.

Xull'rae Zauviir was formed on July 16th, 2001 to start a Dungeons & Dragons Campaign with the Forgotten Realms setting using 2nd and 3rd Additions combined. D&D and the Forgotten Realms have their own copyrights belonging to TSR and Wizards of the Coast.
As you may have guessed I wanted a picture of my character, what roleplayer doesn't? So I went on a long and fruitless search to find a picture to match what I had described my char as. What Drow have you seen that has amber colored eyes and coppery hair. It is rare, but I have seen descriptions like mine out there but no pics to go with it. Annoyed I turned to Elfwood but that site is huge..and as I was browsing I saw a link to the Illuminators Guild where a small group of Artists do comissions for fees and that is where I found Eden Celeste. I suggest you check the link I provided under Xull'rae's picture to see Edens site and figuring her rules and pricing for pictures like mine!

Speaking of mine, that pictures you saw are indeed and in fact mine. I labored with Xull'rae's intense decription, I paid 50 bucks and waited 5 weeks for it to arrive. And as much as it is mine, it is most certainly Eden's. Because she spent that 5 weeks drawing, laboring and detailing that picture to get it done on good time. I am very proud to show off her work and tell others about her. I cannot stress enough how well my character picture turned out and how pleased I am of it. This is the reason this page is made..to make sure it isn't taken and to give full and detailed credit, where it is due. THANK YOU VERY MUCH EDEN!!

The second picture I comissioned was for 40 bucks by Yerin Yoo. She too was found on Elfwood though her prices went up as has Eden's. YOU SO TOTALLY ROCK YERIN!!

EDEN CELESTE

I submitted Xull'rae's description on July 19th, 2001. 3 Days after I created her to Eden. Below is all that transpired and the process it took to get my picture. On Edens page you will find a link to a form you can fill out to submit a character portrait request. These are the e-mails took place after I submitted my request.

Lisa, I wanted you to know that I have received your character portrait request. I wanted to let you know that I will be out of town until Sunday (which is why I'm emailing you from my work email address). I will respond in depth when I get back with any questions or comments. Currently I have one project that I am working on and another couple of possibilities. However I work on a first come, first served based on when I receive payment so at this time I only have one project ahead of yours.
I can do a full or partial body shot, whichever you prefer. Keep in mind that the more of the body shows the less detail there will be in the face. So it depends on where you want the focus. Let me know? Also all of your suggestions/requests should be simple enough for me to accomplish. And I thank you for the complete description, I think you have pretty much answered most of any questions I will have.
I do my work in 2 stages. The first is a rough sketch done after I have received payment. This is to make sure that you and I are on the same page as far as general character appearance, layout, etc. I scan this in and email it to you for approval. This takes between 2-5 days (depending on if I'm in another project or not), and after you have approved the sketch or requested any changes I will begin the final artwork (again, assuming that I am finished with any projects before yours). Digital paintings take me between 2-4 weeks to complete, generally. I will keep you updated during this process and may send you "previews" if the project is taking me longer than normal.
If you would like, you can get the process moving by mailing me a check for $50 (which is for a digital painting emailed to you, plus a printed copy mailed). Mail it to:
(since this is on a webpage and I do not have permission Edens address will remain private.)
Thanks again for your interest in having a character portrait done by me!

Description: Xull'rae Zauviir...female drow. She is a masked Traitor, basically that means she serves the drow god of thieves secretly but also serves the drow goddess lolth up front..so she is a preistess/fighter/thief. Her age is 85..young for a drow apparent age would be 15-17 years, but I want her to have a serious expression. She is 4' 10" in height. Build will be delicate and willowy, has decent curves, slim waist, toned tummy, but strong muscled legs, arms a lil less so then the legs.. full breasts for her SIZE.. meaning her breasts are not larger than her body but fit her well. If you want a detailed measurement then 34 B.
Skin is typical to the drow..dark like ebony. I like the skin tone you used for the you did for that drow male you did with the white hair. If I could can I get that skin tone for my character please? Eye Shape is Almond..the color amber, similar to the color of a wolf's. Hair color is coppery..a light red. However there is a distinct snow white streak running through the hair on the right side above the eye it is NOT covering the eye but it is very visible. The length is to her bottom, but it is pulled up in a high ponytail, in a small bun, forming a small fist sized ball on her head. but the rest is hanging down in several spaced knots down her back or over her shoulder, whichever you think would best stand out. Also have a white gold (silver colored) circlet across her forhead with a large topaz in the middle of it. I know the description of the hairstyle is not good, but hopefully you get what I'm saying..if not then use your imagination to get something similar to what I stated. Gee I feel bossy, hope I'm not too picky and boring you with my babbling on hehe. Is it all possible to get a full or half body done of her?
Her features are striking but not overly beautiful common to the drow. High cheekbones common to those of any elven creature, the slender pointed ears. Lips small yet almost bow shaped..pretty mouth. Giv here a serious but sultry look, like she has something to hide..a playful but deadly look to her eyes.
In all honesty I do not know what I should have her wear clothing wise. I know that I want her legs bare..to show off the muscles yet graceful slenderness to them..for she is a decent dancer. I know drow usually wear light chain mail..but could you design it to where her legs would be bare? if you can't make it a full body..no worries just go down far enough so you can see her thighs, because she has a large white tattoo of a spider on her left thigh. have it like long loincloth style. Color I will leave to you, (maybe dark blue?) but don't let it clash with her hair please? :-) Weapons on her is a dagger and short sword... you can leave those out if you wish, but she is a thief so maybe just the dagger? Entirely up to you. Jewelry is a necklace, and 3 rings..one on her left and two on her right. Choice of what they look like (gems on them color of the band..shape) necklace too is up to you. Her stance, is also up to you, just let it fit in with her expression as stated above..though she is a killer...hehe. The setting will take place on the surface but mostly in the Underdark.
If you need more info, please do contact me. Hopefully I gave good enough details for you to work with. I know I probably have a long wait ahead of me, but I don't mind. I'm not sure when you will need the money but I'm sure you will get in touch with me about that! :-) I truly like your artwork...and if I am accepted I will really look forward to seeing my char. Keep up your great work, you truly have talent!

Lisa, I wanted to let you know that I received your check today. I am hoping to have time to work on your sketch in the next couple of days and as long as I don't have any major questions for you I hope to get something emailed to you for approval by the end of the weekend.
I also wanted to let you know that I am still in the middle of another character portrait so there may be some delays in beginning the actual painting process (once the sketch is approved). I will keep you appraised as to your character portrait status. Let me know if you have any questions?

Lisa, sorry about the delay with this. I had completed a sketch last weekend, however I didn't feel that it did your character justice so I re-drew one last night. I'm much happier with this one, and hope it meets with your approval.
Please look over the sketch. Keep in mind that it does not reflect colors at all, this is only to make sure that the stance, facial features, etc. meets with your vision of your character. I wasn't 100% sure about her mouth, please let me know if this is what you were thinking? If not, if you could supply a link or image that resembles the mouth shape you would like it would be helpful. Also review the positioning of the spider tattoo. I found that I could still do a detailed face as well as get in her thighs/tattoo, hope you don't mind.
On doing this drawing the clothing I was thinking of her wearing more resembled a dark (red, purple, gray or black... depending on what looks best with her skin/hair) cloth/leather than chainmail. If you would prefer the chainmail let me know and I can change my vision accordingly.
Review this and get back to me. I am still in the middle of the other project, but I am thinking that I can do some preliminary color work with your art.

Hi Lisa. I just wanted to give you another update so that you didn't think I'd forgotten you or that I wasn't working hard on your artwork. I've got the portrait about 90% completed. The central figure just has a few finishing touches to complete her, mostly involving incorporating the background which is the part I haven't worked on much yet. I did want to let you know that I will be out of town for the weekend starting tomorrow so it will be next week before I'm done.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Lisa, I just finished your artwork. I had hoped to finish it earlier than this, but have had a rather busy month. I really hope you feel she is worth the wait! Let me know what you think (and if I got anything glaringly wrong, let me know that too). I will be printing out the final artwork before the end of the week and most likely getting it in the mail for you on Friday. You're also in luck... I recently purchased a new printer that prints out my artwork they way they look on the screen... like an oil painting. I'm sure you'll be pleased with the way it looks. :)

Wonderful! I'm really glad that you like her. :) I would be happy to do other portraits of Xullrae for you, just let me know. Keep in mind that they may look slightly different (I never managed the knack that comic book artists have to draw the same face over and over again). However they would look close enough that you'd recognize her.
I'm printing out Xullrae now and will get her to you in the mail tomorrow. Have a great weekend!

P.S. I'd enjoy seeing your web site. Eventually my plan is to collect all the sites that I know about that have my art posted and provide a link back.

Maybe in 2 or 3 months if you are not to busy you could do another of Xullrae in a different pose. Hehe just a thought, you are probably sick of me right now so I won't hassle you with another comission request...right now at least ;-)

Hello,

My name is Lisa and I came across your site of RPG art and was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me? That of course being the first one! ^_~

Other questions include:

Do you still do comissions? I am interested in one for my Drow character.

If the Answer is yes then are the prices on your site correct or have you changed them? How long should a comission take?

And lastly..are you too backed up to accept comissions at this time?

I look forward to hearing from you and I hope that I haven't pestered you with my questions! I would like a comission but I will not bother you with one if you are too busy. By the way..your art is excellent keep up the good work!

Sincerely,
Lisa Lassiter

Ok.. Here's answers to your questions..

> Do you still do comissions? I am interested in one for my Drow > character.

I am not doing commissions at the moment, but I am thinking of doing it again.. Will you send me your character description??

> If the Answer is yes then are the prices on your site correct or have > you changed them? > How long should a comission take?

Yes, the prices on my site is quite correct.. I haven't changed them. :)
A commissions normally takes about a month to finish.. Some takes longer if it requires much details.. Some shorter if it's only a head portrait or something.. It also depends on what else I got to do..

> And lastly..are you too backed up to accept comissions at this time?

It's more of a technical problem.. :) I think it's about time for me to accept commissions again...

As a matter of fact, I was having a massive artist's block.. (lasted about a year...) It's time to get out of it, i think..

Hope to hear from you soon!

Yerin

I'll try out some sketches and send them to you. (They are free for you to keep even if you discontinue the commissions.) I'll try to do various clothing/hair styles and pose/background for her, so you can decide what you like best. We'll discuss the payment once we decide what we exactly want. What happens after the sketch's finalised is that I keep sending you progress reports, and you keep telling me what you want. :) It's very simple.. Once the painting's done, you have to make the payment of the agreed amount, and I'll send you the final full-sized version of the picture. :) The sketches will take about 2 weeks, since I'm very busy this week. If you have more questions, feel free to email me any time!! :) Cheers, Yerin On Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at 09:44 AM, XullraeZauviir@aol.com wrote: > I'm happy to hear from you! > > Maybe I'll be the inspiration you need but I won't push. ^_^ > > Since I don't know if you'll be accepting a comission I am unsure what > pose I won't my character or the style of clothes or even the type of > portrait I want done (probably a full body type. > I will fill that in if you interested. How much detail do you want put on the background? (I should know this because I work on the background first...) If you are just after "Full Figure Portrait (Color)" which is worth $40, then the background will be left pretty simple.. Maybe just black with some colors hinting the rocks and things on the surroundings.. If you choose to have a detailed background.. Thanks for telling your friends about me too. I guess the more business I have the better it is for me... ;) I'll be looking forward to hearing from you again.. Cheers, Yerin Subject: Re: :) Date: 7/6/2003 10:37:27 PM Eastern Daylight Time From: yeriny@ihug.co.nz Reply To: To: XullraeZauviir@aol.com LoL! Tell your fiance not to worry.. I never said no to a commission before.. :) When I have lots of commissions stacked up, I just tell them to wait a while.. :) So far, I only had very patient people, fortunately. :) I am not really fussed about what kind of character I take.. I find male characters more challenging, coz I had lots more practice doing female characters... I guess people ask me to draw drow characters because there's not many artists who can do them well? :> I don't really know... but I enjoy doing them, so I am not complaining!! although... it will be nicer if I get a bit of variety.. I did lots of portraits, and I found that men playing female characters tend to ask for nude pictures... men! :) Again, I am not complaining, coz it's easier to do a nude. ;) Anyhow.. my business has been good lately.. I had about 3 more potential requests last week alone! :) which is very good for me.. :) As for prices.. I raised them a bit now, because NZ dollar's going a lot stronger than before, so after conversion I don't really get much anymore.. :> I hope US dollars go up again then maybe i'll lower my prices again... :) Well.. nice chatting with you again.. :) Cheers, Yerin On Monday, July 7, 2003, at 02:15 PM, XullraeZauviir@aol.com wrote: > business is good as long as you make money so they say. I finally managed to update my gallery, and your characters are in it.. ;) There's brief info about the character "name" "race" "profession" on it, so please check if I got it right.. (I wasn't sure what Alexa's profession was, so it will be nice if you can tell me) Cheers! :) Yerin
